Dollie was born in Northern India and moved to Canada at the age of 12. Experiencing a sudden loss of the simpler life of farms, trains, and no social media, the desire to keep connected with family rituals of dinner times full of fresh home cooking remained deeply embedded in her. It wasn't until she married and had children of her own that this desire to pass her heritage to her own children resurfaced. She spent a couple of years developing recipes that she remembered her family making both in India and Canada. As a culture not known for strict measurements when cooking, it became a joyful journey to develop, test, and illustrate the process in making the dishes.
